The St. Johns Riverkeeper: Neil Armingeon
Neil Armingeon previously served as the Environmental Director of the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation in New Orleans. For over 10 years, he galvanized diverse coalitions of citizens in support of a clean, sustainable Lake Pontchartrain Watershed and developed and directed grass-roots campaigns that integrated science,. advocacy, and public policy. Prior to his work in with the Foundation, Neil was Project Director for the North Carolina Coastal Federation, one of the state's largest environmental groups, where he directed advocacy and hands-on regulatory education programs.

Executive Director: Jimmy OrthIn addition to assisting the Riverkeeper in the field, Jimmy Orth maintains overall responsibility for budget, staffing, program development, fund-raising, and community involvement.
A native of Jacksonville, Jimmy has extensive experience working on environmental issues in Northeast Florida through his involvement with other environmental groups, including the Sierra Club, where he served as an executive committee member for over eight years and as a regional chairman. In 2003, Volunteer Jacksonville awarded Jimmy its Nature of Caring award.
Jimmy received his undergraduate degree from Florida State in Marketing, and his master's degree in Public Administration from the University of North Florida.

Development Director: Sarah ShelleySarah oversees our fundraising programs and activities, developing and implementing strategies and initiatives that support and sustain our operations. Her diverse professional experience has included work with professional theatres, colleges and universities, in ethnic dance, classical music radio and Native American telecommunications. No stranger to rivers, she has lived or worked near the Connecticut, Columbia, Allegheny, Ohio, Monongahela, Willamette, Waccamaw, Eel, Trinity, and Matanzas and is thrilled to be working with the jewel of Florida, our own St. Johns River. Sarah has a strong track record in involving community in her work and thinks that is one of the reasons SJRK is so successful. Sarah received a BFA from Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia and a MFA from Florida State University.

General Counsel: Michael L. HowleMichael serves as General Counsel and Chief Prosecuting Attorney, allowing Riverkeeper to more effectively address issues that are impacting the health of the river, hold polluters accountable, and ensure that our environmental laws and regulations are adequately implemented and enforced. Michael is a native of St. Johns County. He obtained a bachelors degree with High Honors from the University of Florida and earned his law degree from the University of Florida College of Law. Mr. Howle is a co-founder of the Public Trust Environmental Law Institute of Florida, a non-profit environmental advocacy organization. In addition to being admitted to the Florida Bar and the Federal Courts for the Middle District of Florida, Michael is also a member of the Environmental and Land Use Section of the Florida Bar, the Jacksonville Bar Association, and the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers.

Education Director: Tracey MannoTracey is responsible for developing lesson plans and teacher resources and providing educational programs and activities to the community. Tracey is a fourth generation Floridian with deep roots in our state. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from Florida International University in Miami and spent 15 years teaching in the public school system in South Florida. In 2000, Tracey and her family moved to the Jacksonville area, and she began teaching in the St. Johns County School District. Upon leaving the formal teaching field, Tracey became a certified Florida Master Naturalist and volunteers as an advisor with Boy Scouts Venture Crew 474.

Outreach Coordinator: Kelly SavageKelly's responsibilities include organizing community outreach events, coordinating volunteer efforts, and assisting Education Director with all related tasks and projects. Kelly loves all things water, hence her move from Kansas City Missouri to Rhode Island, where she earned her Bachelors degree in Marine Biology at Roger Williams University. During a visit to Jacksonville, she fell in love with the St Johns River, and decided to make this her new home. Kelly's past experience includes working as a pre-kindergarten teacher's assistant, conducting fisheries research for the New York State Department of Conservation, and serving as the Curator of Natural Sciences for the Museum of Science and History.

What is St. Johns Riverkeeper?
St. Johns Riverkeeper is a private non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that serves as a full-time advocate and "watchdog" for the St. Johns River, its watershed, and the public to whom it belongs.Riverkeeper works to improve water quality in the St. Johns River and its tributaries, to protect critical habitat in the St. Johns River watershed, to provide meaningful public access to our waterways, and to educate our members and the public about the River and the issues that impact its health.
Riverkeeper is a membership-based organization. Riverkeeper does not receive any government funding but must rely on the generous support of businesses and concerned citizens that recognize the value and importance of the St. Johns River and our work to protect it.
